Peach Cove Track

Whangārei Heads, Northland
We recently walked the Peach Cove Track at Whangārei Heads, and one thing became clear very quickly: there are a lot of stairs!
The track climbs up one side of the Bream Head Ridge before dropping through beautiful coastal forest to Peach Cove, a small sandy beach tucked away on the other side.
We were also lucky enough to spot a kererū among the trees.
You’ll need a reasonable level of fitness and agility, as some of the steps are steep and narrow. The official return time is around three hours, but it took us about two and a half hours, including plenty of stops to take photos of our Vince Instant Meals along the way.
The views made every step worthwhile, but my favourite part was the enormous tree growing over a rock near the end of the track. It looked as though the roots had wrapped themselves around the rock and claimed it completely.
There is also an eight-bunk serviced hut at Peach Cove, which must be booked online before staying.
A beautiful Northland walk, a serious number of stairs, and plenty of good photo opportunities. Definitely one for the Vince Adventures list.
